Xay Hill (real name Isaiah Hill) is an Ohio-based Christian rapper. He began his career in 2016 and since then, he has released a total of five full-length studio projects, two EPs, and dozens of collaborative projects with other artists, this last part being identified by the artist himself as a crucial aspect of his work ethic:
I got inspired years ago because when I first started into CHH, money wouldn’t even buy me a feature. So, I got to the point where I just put out tons of features. […] Everybody needs at least a chance. So, I do a lot of collab projects with producers and artists that no one has heard of. I work with them, I help them and basically sacrifice my platform. My momma always told me, “God gives you a platform. It’s not yours, it’s his. So sacrifice it.” I don’t care if it gets put on my Spotify, I just want to help them.
Early in his career, Xay gave up several football scholarship opportunities to stay home and preach the Gospel through his music: certainly, it was a bold decision, but it would eventually pay off for him.
In fact, in 2019, he hit a million streams on his Spotify, and released a three-song EP, named Million to celebrate the milestone. The same year, Xay was chosen by Christian Hip-Hop magazine Rapzilla to be a part of their 2020 Freshmen List, alongside other notable and promising CHH artists and producers.
On October 30th, 2020, alongside Rapzilla, he released his fifth full-length project, Broken Nightmares to critical and commercial success, gaining over 100,000 streams in just under a month of its release.
