Since you’re concerned in WEP Cracking , you must have realized that Windows Boxes don’t have a similar feature like the Linux Boxes do. It’s the feature of configuring your wireless card adapter to monitor mode , which means you could grab / capture raw 802.11 g packets without even authenticating with the access point you want to audit. In Linux Boxes , you just have to enter these following command to turn your wireless card into monitor mode : iwconfig ath0 mode monitor
. What about in my lovely Windows Box ? hehe , you could also do it anyway , you can go to www.wildpackets.com , and update your driver . But not every driver you’ll find there are suitable with your wireless card otherwise your wireless card will turn into CRAP (because it ‘ll overwrite your existing driver!).
