http tunnel : make your own Socks server

This happened last night in my college , as long as i know ,the only choice to access the internet from my college lab is by using HTTP Proxy which simply doesn’t satisfy me enough . I would need a Socks proxy to bypass another tcp/ip application like mIRC and Putty (internet ssh). Okay , i’ve known about http tunnel for a long long time that i almost forgot the existense of this great software :P .

Since http proxy was just the only way to get out to the internet , it means you have to convert it to Socks server , right ? . To do this thing , you need to download http tunnel tool here . Once the installation finished , you will be asked to fill the complete data of your existing http proxy. And then just click ‘Test’ . After it finished . Your port 1080 at your localhost will be binded. And now you could use your localhost:1080 as a Socks5 server . :) nice , isn’t it ?

To test it , just run your mIRC client. Go to the ‘Firewall Tab‘ , choose ‘Server -> Socks5‘. And Then Fill the boxes with the proper data :

- Server : 127.0.0.1

- Port : 1080

Click Ok. Then type ‘/s irc.dal.net 6667‘ in your status window of mIRC . And you’ll see the miracle .. :) :)
