Hi , my name is arie , im the new security-related articles contributor on this blog. At first , i’d like to thank buchin for giving me this rare opportunity (what the hell am i talking about!?).. well,,let’s move on!

Why should i use Back|Track to audit my system? well, the answer is so simple , since Back|Track has been released (the current version is Back|Track Final 2) , it’s been The Greatest Linux Security Auditor Ditro ever (beside that,you may find alike distros like :hakin9 ,auditor ,knoppix STD , Ophcrack , etc). Back|Track is also a “compiled and ready for use” security distro. Inside the distro, you will find such package modules/tools for security-auditing-purposes , such as :

- Information Gathering tools (to do some fingerprinting on to your target host,like whois, DNSmap,etc)
- Network Mapping tools (some tools like Xprobe , the ‘Greatest’ nmap, etc)
- Vulnerability Indentification (some tools like SQLNinja,SQLinject,etc)
- Penetration (Metasploit 3 and Milworm exploits archives are also included! hehe)
- Privillige escalation (password cracker,etc)
- Maintaining access (this one is for rootkits and backdoor)
- Covering tracks (you know what it is)
- Radio & network analysis (tools for auditing 802.11 and bluetooth)
- Digital Forensics (tools for detecting rootkits on your system)
- Reverse Engineering (tools like OllyBDG , HexEdit,etc)
- Misc (backtrack installer , paros proxy , etc)

Since Back|Track Live CD is based on Slax , you may find it’s quite difficult to do a Hardisk Installation , but i’ve finally found a great article about making a dual boot windows XP and BackTrack Linux which you could read it here. To download the iso , please go here.
